The Violin Program
The Violin Program runs weekly on Tuesdays from 3:15-4:40. There are 16 classes per semester. All are welcome, no prior experience is necessary and students as young as kindergarten are invited to join. On Tuesdays at 3:15, I pick students up from the office (kindergarten students are picked up by their classrooms) and we have snack time together in the Parish Hall. This is followed by class for the beginners K-2 from 3:30-4:00 and then students with experience from 4:00-4:40.
Students will be taught the basics of violin playing along with songs and basic music theory. The goals for the class are to have each student able to read music and understand rhythmic values, hold and play the violin properly and perform short pieces both by reading the notes and by memory. Students will have violin homework every week. I will share many tips with parents and students on how to practice effectively and efficiently. It can be a fun and satisfying journey of learning and music making for the students.
If you have any additional questions regarding the program please do not hesitate to contact me!! I look forward to a wonderful year of violin playing, theory games and music making merriment! Please click here for the St. Thomas Violin Program 2015-16 packet of information.
