After appearing to his apostles over 40 days and teaching them about the Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father. By doing so, he opened the gates of heaven to all believers and commissioned us to be his hands and feet in the world. This great feast is transferred from its usual Thursday in the Ordinary Form of the liturgy in our diocese.
