Pentecost Novena & Octave

Pentecost Novena: May 15-23

At the time of his Ascension into heaven, Jesus told his disciples to gather in Jerusalem and to pray as they waited for the descent of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost and its Octave

The Easter Season comes to a close with the great solemnity of Pentecost, the celebration of the Holy Spirit’s descent to give the Church the life of Christ and to equip her members for holiness and evangelization. In the Extraordinary Form of the liturgy, Pentecost has an octave that extends from the feast itself to the following Sunday, which is the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity in both forms of the Roman Rite.
